Yearly Update

After taking a few months off from writing let me some it up a little. We were able to rent our home in Delaware out and that seems to be going fairly well. Nancy and the kids got packed up and moved out here to Utah in April of 2009. It took a few weeks but we were able to find a home in Eagle Mountain and are currently living here still. We both have callings in our ward. Currently I am the Ward Executive Secretary and really enjoy working with the Bishopric. Nancy is serving as the 1st Counselor in the Primary. The callings keep us hopping but we enjoy it. Our Stake has a great sports program. We have a softball, basketball, and even a flag football season. It is great to have these activities to keep me from putting on too much weight. I am still currently employed with Cintas. I made a position change in August to Sales and am making a position change again in the next couple of weeks. There are two options and I am leaning more towards one of them. Until it is final this is all I will say about it. Life is good for us and we hope it is good for you and yours.

So My Wife Will Be Happy!

My wife suggested I add this to my blog and hey!, anything to keep her happy, right?

Someday: I'm going to drive my Porsche.
I usually: get up before everyone else.
I regret: my entire youth.
I love: BYU footbal!!!
I care: about my family.
I always: drive faster than I should.
I am not: going to go to college.
I remember: just about everything (ask the cop who gave me the lie detector test.)
I believe: Obama is the worst President ever.
I dance: with my kids.
I sing: the instrumental sections of songs.
I don’t always: brush my teeth.
I argue: so I can prove I'm right even though I'm wrong.
I write: nothing.
I lose: (I've already lost it)
I wish: I could already retire.
I listen: to nobody.
I don't understand: why anyone pays to go to school.
I can be found: always working.
I am scared: of nothing!
I need: a million dollars.
I forget: everything I want to forget.
I am happy: because my family and I are together again.

"The Fonz"

I know it's been forever since I wrote and there really isn't any great excuse except that I don't want a post that seems boring. So today I have finally got something not boring.

I spend a fair amount of time driving during the day for work. Since I work alone I listen to the radio for company. I have one station that I listen to all the time and they have a great duo during the early morning hours. Today they were wanting listeners who scrapbook to call in. Specifically those who have scrapbook pages of people other than just family, like celebrities whether A list or B or even C listed ones. One lady called up and said she had a scrapbook page of Arthur Fonzarelli from Happy Days. One of the DJs was stunned and the other one ran with it. He went so far as to say he wished that "The Fonz" was here and he would take him down town. Then have him snap his fingers and see if the temple lights would go on and off. I had a good long laugh. Just thought I would share that so that you could have a good laugh too.

Dangerous Punctuation

Last week's Priesthood/Relief Society lesson was really good. I read it before church and felt that I knew enough about the subject that I could participate well in class. Since I started attending this ward the brother who was teaching, joined the church 5 years ago, has taught every lesson except the first Sunday lesson for February. He is not part of the Elders Quorum Presidency so he must have the assignment so that he can grow his testimony and understanding of the gospel. He doesn't read the best but does prepare before church meetings. He started off with, "Brethren today's lesson is on The Great Apostrophe." I just about lost it. How do you get apostrophe out of the word apostasy? When he read the word apostatize it was like he used that word everyday but just couldn't get apostasy to come out right. This isn't the first time that he adds or takes away letters to create a word that is somewhat similar to the word he should be reading. I don't mean to make fun because I know he tries but this was just too funny not to share.

What's a little love shared between co-workers.

Today at work we were having a good laugh about a co-workers innocent mistake. He called one of the managers and ended up having to leave a message. At the conclusion of his message he said, "...so I'll see you later. Love you. Bye.........Um, I'm sorry I...umm...I just got off the phone with my wife and you know....We're all brothers anyway, right?...Sorry about that." The original message was about 30 seconds long and the fumbled apology lasted about 2 minutes as he explained and tried to cover up an obvious mistake. I guess it really is better to think before you speak.

Waiting for time to pass

I can't wait for winter to be over so that I can start playing more sports. Basketball and volleyball aren't enough right now. I really miss the scheduled football games that we had in Delaware. Unfortunately I haven't been able to settle down anywhere long enough to create another "league" and play regularly. Spring softball begins sometime in March. My free time will be better when that gets going.

I also cant wait for our house to sell. There is the possibility of doing a house "swap" with the mortgage company but I haven't been able to get a hold of the right person who can make decisions like this. The customer service people could care less and their managers don't seem to get it either. I have an old missionary buddy who is a real estate agent here in Utah. Hopefully he will be able to help us out for a nominal fee.....One day the whole family will be out here.

While I continue to wait for something to happen for our family to be reunited in our new home, I have also been trying to figure out how to give Nancy her well deserved vacation from the kids. With all of them suffering with illness it just compounds her work. She has been doing such a good job these last 6 months and I feel bad that I am unable to spell her for a time. At least she gets a brief 30 minutes to 2 hours occasionally when somebody from church comes over. Unfortunately though, they don't offer very often.

There are times that I feel like time is flying by, yet there are many more times when I feel like the sand in the hourglass doesn't fall fast enough. Am I the only one who feels that time doesn't work in my favor? If you have a timepiece that works according to my desires I would be willing to make a trade. The sooner the better.

Too much time!

As predicted, Nancy did a wonderful job. Now it's my turn to make it worthwhile.

I have been in Utah without my family now for 6 months. I go to work early and leave around mid-afternoon. Every day I dread thinking of what to do after work. I usually visit the library. Who would have thought that someone who hates to read and loves to play, would frequent the library more than play. It's not necessarily by choice. If I had my own computer where I live with internet access, than I wouldn't ever visit the library. But all 4 computers we own are in Delaware with Nancy and the kids. So, I have become a library card holder and spend 30 - 120 minutes on weekdays at the library.

After leaving the library I have the remainder of the evening that needs to be filled in. I still have a few choices of what I might do for the evening. There is always the dollar theater, assuming I haven't seen everything showing or don't want to see something a 2nd or 3rd or 4th time. I could play games on my PSP that I bought. I could read scriptures and study lessons for Sunday meetings. Sometimes I can play sports but that starts real late. And then of course I could just sleep time away.

Early on I would go to the dollar theater. In November and December I saw Mamma Mia. At first I didn't realize it was a musical but decided I was going to watch it anyway. Turned out I really liked it. Enough so that I went and saw it a few more times before it left the theater. Nancy thought I was off my rocker especially after she saw the movie. My Uncle thinks I need some time spent with "The Guys". As Brad Paisley's song goes, "...Honey, I'm still a guy."

Lately I have been playing Basketball on Tuesday nights starting at 10pm and Volleyball on Thursday nights starting at 8pm. I spend the maximum amount of time possible because I would rather tire myself out from playing one night until real late and then catch up on sleep the next. This means I usually get to bed around 12 - 12:15. That's not the best seeing as I get up between 4:30 and 4:45. Thank goodness for Saturdays when I sleep in all the way to 9.

Today I got done work early. I will be going home just as soon as I finish this post, where I will clean up and then take a nap so that I can stay up late playing. I figured I would nap now because on Saturday I won't be able to catch up on my sleep because I am going to ref the YM basketball games from 8 - Noon.

I'm sure there are many of you who wish you had all this time and even know what you would do with it. But let me tell you, it only takes a couple of weeks before the routine gets old. It would be much better if I had my family and all of our possesions waiting for me when I got to our home.....one day....hopefully soon!!!!!
